Is it to good to be true?
– How this game is Free to Play?
Welcome to my first post ^^
Thanks to my current internet speed of 50 Mbps, I need to be selective when deciding which games to download. At first, I thought this would be another MMORPG disappointment, but after starting to play, it has been totally worth it.
After the prologue, you can finally start customizing your character, which offers a lot of options (I spent 1 hour on it).

After creating your character, the story begins immediately. I kind of liked the story (so far I have 15 hours of playtime), but sometimes it feels overwhelming -not in a bad way- because of the extensive history and storytelling. This game offers a lot of side stories, and most of these side stories’ rewards are great. It doesn’t just give you blah blah items; it opens new skills and paths. For me, the best thing so far is watching animals in the wild and learning some skills from them – truly inspirational.
Now the best part, combat.
This game’s combat mechanics feel solid, fluid, and truly enjoyable. Using dual weapons and switching between them from time to time feels great. You need to dodge or block incoming attacks. The Qi (stamina) is key; when enemies’ or your Qi drops to zero, they can’t block or dash to dodge and become vulnerable to critical damage.
In certain areas, you encounter boss fights that feel like Souls-like challenges. There are also world bosses that roam across the map. If you struggle with them, you can call for help from other players or assist them in defeating these bosses.
Where Winds Meet has extensive content and gameplay mechanics, so I will not cover all the combat mechanics or how to upgrade them. This game is so vast.

Is it MMORPG or Single Player?
It’s an odd question, right? Because it has a strange online system. Some of my friends said it’s similar to Genshin Impact, but I haven’t played that game yet.
Single Player mode is where you can progress through the story, collect items, and more. You can summon other players to assist you in tough fights or help them, similar to the system in Elden Ring. However, once you switch to Online Mode (after reaching level 10), all mobs disappear from the world. I believe they designed Online Mode for interaction and socializing, which seems odd at first, but after trying it, I thought, “Why not?”. You can switch between Single and Online Mode whenever you want.
Pro’s
- Graphics Quality
- Optimization is really good
- Combat System
- Feeling of Exploration
- Minigames are FUN (Chess, Mahjong etc.)
Con’s
- The general story is engaging but can feel overwhelming at times.
- Some bugs (one time I had to kill one boss for 4 times in a row, the fight started over and over again)
- Understanding the system requires a significant amount of time
My overall rating for now; 6/10
If you are looking for a new MMORPG experience and have plenty of time to invest, you should definitely try this one!
